Adrenal Fatigue Testing

The adrenal glands are the key to helping us cope with stress. They are also the first glands to fail under stress. Adrenal fatigue results when the adrenals are functioning at a suboptimal level following constant, intermittent or sporadic stress. When the adrenals are exhausted they become dysfunctional. This can lead to many different illnesses, including fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, frequent infections or allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and diabetes.

Cortisol, the major hormone produced by the adrenal glands, provides a useful measurement for assessing adrenal gland function. The Hormone Saliva Test Kit provides a reading of your Cortisol at various times of the day. Come in and take our Adrenal Function Quiz to help determine whether your cortisol needs to be analyzed more deeply.

Hair Analysis Testing

Historically, elemental analysis has been used primarily to determine whether a person has had excessive exposure to toxic elements such as lead, mercury or arsenic: the heavy metals that are known to cause serious health problems. As toxic elements concentrate in soft tissue rather than blood or urine, hair analysis is uniquely suited for measuring toxic elements. Elemental analysis also provides information on the absorption and assimilation of nutritionally important elements (e.g. iron, copper), making it useful for assessing nutrient deficiencies and imbalances as well.

Vitamin D Spot Test

Vitamin D Blood Spot Testing – a take home test done in the comfort of your home. Requires drops of blood. 15 minutes of direct sunlight on exposed skin twice a week provides enough vitamin D for the body’s needs. In Canada, a lack of direct sunlight in winter means we do not make vitamin D from October to April. Only about 1/3 of Canadians have vitamin D levels* above 75 nmol/L, the minimum considered optimal for health. -Health Canada

A 2010 study estimated that 37,000 deaths could be prevented every year if the Canadian average vitamin D level* was 105 nmol/L.
